I will be away for a couple of weeks holiday, from this weekend until early August. Father Romanus Ejim will be supplying for me during my absence. I am very grateful to Fr Romanus for his help, and I’m sure you will make him welcome during his stay.
The Pope will be undertaking a number of special events during his visit in September – One of the key events of the visit will be a Prayer Vigil to be held in Hyde Park on Saturday 18th September. Every parish in the country is being allocated a certain number of tickets for this Vigil – my understanding is that this parish will be allocated approximately 50 tickets. There are application forms available at the back of church today for you to fill in and return to the parish house if you would like to attend. The tickets are likely to be allotted on a first-come, first-served basis, so please return these forms as quickly as possible. Exact details of the Hyde Park event are still to be finalised, but it is anticipated that the park will open for pilgrims in the late morning, and the Vigil will end around 9.00pm.
Our new gardens require some ongoing support from the parish in the form of a regular roster to ensure that the gardens are properly watered. If you're local to the church and can spare a little time to help with the watering, potential once a week dependent the number of volunteers - please contact the church house via info@stmarymags.org.uk or speak to Father Richard.
The Children’s Liturgy sessions during 9.30 Mass are extremely popular and well attended. To help us continue to deliver these sessions in the most effective way possible we are asking all interested parents to register their children from the beginning of September for the next academic year to July 2011. Registration will take place before Mass on Sunday 5th September and Sunday 12th September from 9.00-9.20am. Please take a Registration Form, which can be found at the back of the Church, and bring along completed on 5th September or 12th September to register. All children attending from September should be registered. Many thanks. THE NEXT CHILDREN’S LITURGY WILL START IN SEPTEMBER
If anyone is interested in joining any of our rotas, please drop a note into the Parish House or email on info@stmarymags.org.uk. We have Church Cleaning, Children’s Liturgy (starting again September), Sunday Readers, Counting, Altar Linen, and Gardening.
